From a bare blockto a garden,

planted with care forsoil, light and people.

Gardens that settle inand only get better.

Fieldwork is a small garden design studio in Melbourne. We draw the layout, place every plant and stay for the first seasons.

Garden design, planting and care, brought together by one studio.

Garden design

A layout thatworks every day

Start a design brief

Levels, paths, walls and trees, planned around the light through the year. You receive a site plan, the design drawings and notes your landscaper can price from.

Isometric drawing of the courtyard garden: a lawn, a brick path under a rose arch, a Japanese maple and layered planting along the fences, with someone walking up the path and someone planting.

Planting plans

Every plantin its place

Ask for a planting plan

Plants chosen for your soil, your aspect and the time you have, in layers that look good in every season. You receive the plan, a plant schedule and a care sheet for the first year.

Isometric drawing of a garden bed being planted: a Japanese maple, shrubs and drifts of perennials and grasses, the next plants waiting in their pots and someone kneeling beside the plan.

See a new home garden

We design from the builder’s plans before handover, so levels, drainage and the first planting are settled early. You receive a site plan, a first planting plan and a timeline.

Isometric drawing of a new house and its garden: a paved terrace by the doors, steps down to a lawn, young trees and planting, with one person on the terrace and another crossing the lawn.
